Pay to Try (PTT) – Program Types
As mentioned in my prior post, there are three different categories of Pay to Try programs that I’m aware of. Below is my description of each:
- Free programs – You get paid to sign up for a free service or a free site. Often times these are online survey programs. Based on my personal experience, the quality of most of the surveys I find through this method is not very good. They’re either survey companies that are really trying to sell you something, or require you to sign up for something in order to be paid for the survey.
- Free Trial Offers – This is where you get paid for signing up for a trial product or service. You will receive the product or service for free for the trial period, usually a week or 30 days. In most cases you will be charged a reasonable amount for shipping of the trail product, so beware, not all free trial offers are truly “free.” What’s important to note here is that you’ll be giving your credit card information when paying for the shipping and you’ll be agreeing to future charges (membership) to that credit card should you not cancel before the trail period ends. It is very difficult to cancel a program after the trial period ends, so it’s critical that you’re mindful of when you have to cancel by.
- Cash Offers – This is where you’re paid to buy (one time) a product or service (no recurring charges or membership).
